Michelle Joy Vant Hof, 43, severly injured in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 10 near Alton, Iowa

Forty-three-year-old Michelle Joy Vant Hof of Granville was driving east when her 2001 Pontiac Bonneville went onto the shoulder and she lost control of the vehicle, which entered the south ditch and struck a MidAmerican Energy electrical utility pole, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
