Rollover crash on I-635 kills 60-year-old Kansas City, Kansas man.
One-car accident kills one on 635.
One man in his sixties died early Tuesday morning in a one-car accident along 635 and K-5 in Kansas City, Kan.
The crash happened around 2:30 Tuesday morning in the southbound lanes.
There were two people in the small compact car when the driver crossed over the highway, rolled the vehicle and ended up on a grassy hill.
“Roll over accidents are immensely survivable, as long as you got your seatbelt on,” said an officer with the Kansas Highway Patrol. “It’s the only little thing we can do to keep us safe when we make a mistake like that.”
The driver, later identified as Kevin M. Fisk, 60, was not wearing a seatbelt. He died at scene. A male passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries. He called authorities to report the accident.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said speed may have been a factor.
Only one lane southbound is open as investigators continue to figure out what happened.
