According to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash log, Jamie Loren Cole, 31, was driving a pickup southbound on K-23 about 7 miles south of Meade at 5:06 p.m. when he prepared to make a left turn onto U Road. When he started to make the turn, an unknown vehicle passed him on the left side at a high speed.
Cole jerked the pickup back to the right then turned left again and was struck in the driver's side door by a pickup driven by Kincaid Lane Meyers, 15, of Meade.
