Butler County schools trying to focus on normalcy after tragic accident

Butler County Schools says that bus driver Janine Dockery is not working after yesterday's accident on her own decision. It was a tough task Tuesday, after what's being called one of the most tragic events in the history of the school system. Less than twenty four hours after a 5 year old Kindergarten student was killed in a bus accident, the Butler County School system focused on keeping things as normal as possible. Multiple grief counselors were at multiple schools Tuesday for students, teachers, and bus drivers. Today marked the first of many tough ones ahead for the school system which says safety and communication remain a top priority.

Butler County bus driver's records released

WBKO recently filed an open records request with the school system shortly after Dockery's bus was involved in an accident that killed kindergarten student Jayden Hawkins. That's how Janine Dockery has been graded in almost every single category in the last ten years she's been driving a bus for Butler County Schools. Butler County Schools said there haven't been any. "About five times last year or more, we complained about she's taking off too fast, she's driving down our road too fast, and our younger kids being knocked out of the seats because of the way she's driving." He said the meetings he remembers centered around behavior and discipline issues on the bus, but nothing to do with Dockery's driving.
