Man struck and killed by a car while walking on northbound I-471 in Newport.

Police responded to a report of a fatal accident on northbound Interstate 471 Saturday morning.

Police said a man was hit by a car near the Memorial Parkway exit on I-471 around 2:30 a.m.

The man died from his injuries, officials said.

I-471 was shut down while police investigated the accident, officials said.

The victim’s name has not been released at this time.
