In the early hours of Friday morning, KSP responded to the 2000 block of U.S. 62 regarding a fatal hit-and-run involving a pedestrian. According to a news release, Benjamin Carpenter, 30, of Lawrenceburg, was pronounced dead at the scene. After an investigation, KSP said that William Barnett, of Lawrenceburg, was identified as the driver who struck Carpenter.
