Lillian Curtis, 72, and Lloyd Curtis, 77, killed and one man injured when large restaurant sign falls and crushes car in windy conditions on North Mulberry Street in Elizabethtown, Kentucky
The Jefferson County Coroner identified the woman as Lillian Curtis, according to WDRB. A family member told WDRB the three family members were traveling home to Columbia and had stopped at the Denny’s when the accident happened.
Elizabethtown Fire Department extracted the occupants. Graham and Lloyd Curtis were transported to Baptist Health Hardin and Lillian Mae Curtis to University of Louisville Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to Chris Denham, public information officer for Elizabethtown Police Department.
According to WAVE, winds were blowing between 40 and 60 miles per hour when the accident happened, and security footage from a nearby restaurant caught the moment on tape.
77-year-old Lloyd Curtis passed away early Monday morning, according to family members. His wife, Lillian, died last Thursday after winds toppled a Denny’s sign some 80 feet onto the vehicle which had pulled off I-65.
