One person killed and three injured in multi-vehicle crash on Harrod’s Bridge Way in Prospect, Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – WHAS11 has received a report that one person is dead following a multi-vehicle crash in Prospect. The crash happened on the 8500 block of Harrod’s Bridge Way, where a white Volkswagen crossed over to the other side of the road, striking a Jeep. A tanker truck was also involved in the crash, causing it to flip off the side of the road. Authorities have confirmed that the driver of the Volkswagen, a white male, has died. In total, three people were transported to an area hospital; two with serious injuries and one non-life-threatening injury.

Police spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said a gas tanker truck also flipped over the guardrail, while a box truck was involved in the accident on the roadway – though he said it was unclear which cars if any either of those vehicles hit.

Oldham Co. teacher injured in US 42 crash

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – One person involved in a deadly collision involving a tanker on US 42 has been identified as a middle school teacher. The man inside the Jeep was Kyle Ray, the Band Director at North Oldham Middle School. The person inside the Volkswagen was killed, and their name has not been released. The driver of the Volkswagen lost control and ran off the road, colliding with Ray’s Jeep. The road was shut down for hours while crews offloaded the tanker in order to safely upright it and clear the road.
