A spokesman for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said the crash was expected to take up to three hours to clean up. ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) - At least one person has been killed in a single-vehicle accident that has closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 65 at the 77 mile marker near the LaRue-Hardin County line, a Kentucky State Police spokesman said. The crash happened just after 2 p.m. on Tuesday just south of Sonora. It is not clear whether road conditions played a role in the accident. Local I-65 commuters are urged to use US 31W or US 31E. Manual operators are on site at the one-lane US 31W bridge over I-65 between Sonora and Upton to help with timing to accommodate increased southbound US 31W traffic.

Woman killed in LaRue County crash identified

The crash happened about 2:36 p.m. on Tuesday. (Source: WAVE 3 News) UPTON, KY (WAVE) - A Tennessee woman has been identified as the victim of a deadly single-vehicle crash in LaRue County on Tuesday afternoon. Kentucky State Police said Deborah L. Williams, 59, of Old Hickory, TN was a passenger in a GMC pickup truck traveling south on Interstate 65 when the driver lost control at the 77 mile marker and hit a rock wall. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene by the LaRue County coroner. [PREVIOUS STORY: 1 dead in crash near LaRue-Hardin Co. line] The driver, Michael A. Williams, 69, also of Old Hickory, was airlifted to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Police do not know why the vehicle left the roadway.
