Truck strikes, kills bicyclist in Breaux Bridge; police say driver was intoxicated

Celestine failed a breath test at the scene and was booked into St. Martin Parish Jail on counts of careless operation, open alcoholic container and vehicular homicide, David said.
Tyrone Celestine was riding his bike on West Mills Avenue when he was hit by a Dodge truck and fatally injured. Celestine was ejected from his bicycle, and was not wearing a helmet; he died at a local hospital. The driver of the truc, 52-year-old Lawrence Sam, was intoxicated at the time of the crash and has been booked into St. Martin Parish Jail.
