Car strikes Moss Bluff bicyclist

A Lake Charles man who was hit by a car Wednesday as he rode his bicycle on Coffey Road in Moss Bluff died Friday, authorities said. Lance Bob, 31, was traveling west in the middle of the lane at about 7 p.m. when he was struck from behind by a westbound car, said Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers. Bob was flown to a Lafayette hospital, where he died on Friday, she said. Officials don’t believe the driver of the car was impaired, but they took toxicology samples for analysis, Myers said. “Bob’s bicycle had no lights and the area where the crash occurred was dark because there were no street lights,” she wrote in a news release.
