One policeman dies, 2 injured in crash

At the time of the crash Govan was determined to be impaired. He was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide, vehicular negligent injury, improper lane usage and failure to move over for emergency vehicle on the shoulder.

UPDATE: The man accused of killing a Sterlington Police Officer is out on bail.

UPDATE Sunday, July 3rd at 2:35 P.M.- Sterlington Police Chief Barry Bonner says the memorial services for Officer David Elahi will be held Thursday at 2 P.M. at North Monroe Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 P.M.
