Demetrius Ruffin hit and killed by car driven by Sierah Brabham while walking on I-55.

A pedestrian walking along Interstate 55 on Friday night was struck and killed near Amite. Authorities with Louisiana State Police said a 2008 Dodge Avenger being driven by Sierah Brabham, 25, of Amite, was traveling south on I-55 in the right lane. A pedestrian, Demetrius Ruffin, 46, of Independence, was walking in the right travel lane when he was hit and thrown to the right shoulder, officials said. Ruffin suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Brabham was wearing a seat belt and alcohol use was not suspected. Officials did take a blood sample from Ruffin for tests.
