Woman injured in St. Claude-area traffic accident dies

An 80-year-old woman injured Monday (Oct. 19) in a car accident in the Upper 9th Ward has died, New Orleans Police said in a press release Monday night. The woman, whose name is being withheld pending family notification, was struck shortly after noon while driving a Chevrolet Tracker across Poland Avenue on North Johnson Street. Police questioned the other driver, a 38-year-old man in a red Hyundai sedan, and blood and alcohol tests are pending amid an ongoing investigation. No citations had been issued.
