Impairment suspected in fatal Tangipahoa Parish traffic accident

Investigators suspect Savoie was impaired and samples of his blood and urine were collected for a toxicological analysis, State Police said. The results are pending and the crash remains under investigation.

State Police suspect driver impairment in fatal crash near Hammond

Savoie, whom police suspect was intoxicated, was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail in Amite on counts of vehicular homicide, careless operation, hit-and-run and driving with a suspended license.
A Loranger man was booked with vehicular homicide and other charges Friday night following a single vehicle crash in Tangipahoa Parish that killed his passenger. Steve Savoie, 28, was arrested and booked in the Tangipahoa Parish Jail in Amite with careless operation of a motor vehicle, hit and run, suspended license and vehicular homicide in an accident that claimed the life of 35-year-old Adam Capdeboscq from Husser, La. The accident happened around 7:50 p.m. on Louisiana 443 north of U.S. 190 when Savoie lost control of the 1997 Dodge pickup truck he was driving at high speed. The passenger in the vehicle, Adam Capdeboscq, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle when it hit a culvert, overturned, and rolled over multiple times. He was pronounced dead on the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner's Office. Savoie, who was wearing a seat belt, left the scene on foot but was arrested by State Police soon after the fatal crash.
