6 Teens Injured in Rollover Accident, Charges Pending: Police

Preliminary evidence indicates that the operator and five passengers may have been under the influence of alcohol before the crash, police said. Charges are pending against the driver.
Alcohol was likely a factor in an overnight crash Tuesday in Edgewater that injured six teenagers when their vehicle went out of control and turned over, according to Anne Arundel County Police. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Toyota Camry was traveling eastbound on Central Avenue near Loch Haven Road at about 12:35 a.m. when the 18-year-old female driver lost control of the car, causing the Camry to skid, spin into a ditch and overturn onto its roof. The driver, identified as Sienna Lee Brandhorst, 18, of Edgewater, was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Hospital in Baltimore by ambulance for treatment of serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The five passengers also suffered non-life threatening injuries. A front seat passenger in the Camry, a 14-year-old boy from Edgewater, was trapped in the car and had to be extricated by the fire department. He was taken by ambulance to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore for treatment of serious, but non-life threatening, injuries. Jacob Lewis Brookman, 18, of Edgewater, a passenger in the rear seat of the vehicle, suffered a head injury and was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center by ambulance. His injuries were not believed to be life threatening. The three remaining rear seat passengers included a 17-year-old male from Shadyside, a 17-year-old male from Glen Burnie and a 16-year-old male from Deale. Two of these passengers were taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center and one went to Shock Trauma. Preliminary evidence indicates that the operator and five passengers may have been under the influence of alcohol before the crash, police said. Charges are pending against the driver.
