An 82-year-old Westminster woman was killed in a car crash in Marriottsville Thursday evening when her car veered off the road and struck a tree, Howard County police said. Doris Lee Johnson, of the 2200 block of Bluebird Dr., had a "serious medical emergency," an investigation found, and lost control of her car while driving northeast on Marriottsville Road near Driver Road just after 5 p.m. Johnson's Toyota Rav4 hit a tree and rolled onto its side, police said. She was wearing her seatbelt, and neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash, police said. Police said Johnson was taken to Northwest Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The crash is under investigation by the Howard County Police Traffic Enforcement Section.
