Teen girl killed, mother injured in Eastern Shore crash

Maryland state police say a teenage girl was killed and her mother was critically injured after a box truck hit their car from behind and pushed it into the path of an ongoing vehicle.

The office of the Somerset County State's Attorney awaits a report of what happened, and intends to decide whether to file charges, MSP said.

UPDATE: Funeral arrangements for Andrea Joyner announced

The funeral will be the following day, Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Crisfield High School.
The collision happened Friday afternoon in Marion Station, in Somerset County on the lower Eastern Shore. Andrea Joyner, 15, of Crisfield was killed, and her mother, Patricia Joyner, 38, was airlifted to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. The driver and a passenger in the truck sustained minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities say alcohol was not a factor in the collision. No charges have yet been filed.
