Police: Driver ran from fiery car in crash that killed Md. woman

The crash occurred at 2:56 a.m., say police. They say a Dodge Charger crashed after the driver tried to take the off-ramp while traveling too fast and hit a light support pole. The car then caught fire, according to police.

Police say the driver, Craig S. Howard, Jr. of Waldorf, Md., ran away, leaving two passengers in the burning car. Officers were in the area and were able to catch him a short distance away.

Police said authorities found the driver, Craig S. Howard Jr., of Waldorf, near the collision on the off-ramp of southbound Route 5 to Allentown Road at 2:56 a.m.

Police say driver ran from fatal car crash in Camp Springs

Maryland State Police said a driver ran from a fiery crash in Camp Springs on Friday that killed one passenger and left another in critical condition.

One passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, according to authorities, and Ashley Dominique Harley of Clinton, Md., was pronounced dead at the scene. The ramp was closed for approximately 3 hours. The driver was apprehended soon after he fled.
