A Lanham, Md., man died from injuries after his car was hit as he was trying to make a left turn onto Annapolis Road from Fontana Drive early Tuesday morning, police said.

Romulo Hernandez, 22, of the 9200 block of Greenwood Lane, died after he was taken to a hospital, Prince George’s County police say.

Police were called to the scene about 1:20 a.m. There, they found Hernandez’s vehicle had been hit by a car going eastbound on Annapolis Road.

“Preliminarily, it appears Hernandez failed to yield the right of way to the second car,” according to a statement from police. “Investigators are looking into whether speed also played a role in the crash.”

The driver of the other car is expected to survive, police say.
