A naked man jumped out of a car driven by his alleged kidnappers early Tuesday morning in Maryland.

According to Laurel police, an officer spotted a car without its headlights on just after 1 a.m., traveling in the opposite direction along a one-way street. When officers began pursuing the driver, they saw a completely naked man jump out of the car's passenger side at the intersection of Route 198 and Washington Boulevard.

Police continued pursuing the driver, who shortly thereafter crashed into three parked cars at Car America Dealership on Washington Boulevard. The car eventually struck a telephone pole and flipped upside down, injuring its two occupants.

One man was transported to Baltimore Shock Trauma and the other was sent to Laurel Regional Hospital.

Police caught up with the naked man, who told them he was the victim of an armed robbery. Officers recovered a loaded handgun from the car, which belonged to the victim. He told police the suspects forced him to strip.

"They wanted to make sure he didn't have anything else on him that they could steal," a Laurel police Captain said. "That's my understanding at this time."

Donte Powell, 27, from D.C. and Douglas Mention, 26, of South Carolina face armed robbery, kidnapping and weapons charges. Additional charges are pending, police say.
