For the two offenses, the guidelines called for three months in jail to six years in prison. Shawn Gangloff, 15, was ejected and later died from his injuries; Max Dechter, then 17, was severely injured and hospitalized for months. Austin Donovan Hall, now 18, lost control while driving 119 miles per hour on Labor Day weekend 2014 in a residential area of Olney, where the speed limit was 35.

Three teenaged boys were seriously injured, one with life-threatening injuries, when the car they were in left the road and hit a tree in Olney early Saturday morning. When Montgomery County Police officers and Fire & Rescue personnel arrived at the crash scene near Hines Road and Macduff Avenue at approximately 1:23 a.m., the driver and front passenger were trapped in the car, police say. The back-seat passenger had been thrown from the car.

Sherwood mourns student killed in crash, police say driver had odor of alcohol

Police said Tuesday that the 17-year-old driver who lost control shortly before 1:3o a.m. Saturday had an odor of alcohol when officers arrived on the scene, along Hines Road in Olney, Md.
According to police, Austin Donovan Hall, 17, of Brookeville, was the driver. Maxwell Elliott Dechter, 17, of Silver Spring was in the front passenger seat and Shawn Richard Gangloff, 15, was sitting in back. Gangloff was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, Hall and Dechter with serious injuries.

The heading of this article is inaccurate. Shawn Gangloff was NOT found dead. He died in the hospital over 34 hours later. This should be corrected.
