Man In Wheelchair Struck, Killed By ChelmsfordVehicle

A 72-year-old Boston man in a wheelchair was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing the street in Chelmsford on Saturday afternoon, police say. The man was struck by a Ford pickup truck, driven by a 45-year-old Hudson, N.H. man. Police say a preliminary investigation shows the man was using a crosswalk when he was struck. The man was rushed to Lowell General Hospital where he was pronounced dead around 5 p.m. Police were called to the intersection of Old Westford Road and Drum Hill Square at 3:15 p.m.

Chelmsford police investigate fatal accident

According to a police statement, officers responded at 3:15 p.m. Sept. 5 to an accident reported at the intersection of Old Westford Road and Drum Hill traffic square. When they arrived, police and emergency medical personnel evaluated the victim, and requested a medical helicopter because of the severity of the victim's injuries.
