An agency spokesperson said in a statement that the trooper was outside his cruiser on Interstate 495 north in Hopkinton checking on another truck that was stopped on the side of the highway when he was “sideswiped” at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The trooper was checking on another truck that was disabled on the northbound side of the highway around 10:30 a.m. when the tractor-trailer sideswiped him and his cruiser, according to a state police spokesman.

After investigating, police obtained a warrant for Perry Livingston, 40, of New Haven, Connecticut and arrested him at his home Saturday.
