A female pedestrian was struck and killed late Saturday afternoon on Route 6, the Massachusetts State Police reported.

State police are trying to determine why a 32-year-old woman who died after being struck by two vehicles on Route 6 in Yarmouth was walking on the highway.

A female pedestrian was struck and killed late Saturday afternoon on Route 6, the Massachusetts State Police reported.
The collision occurred near Exit 8 and the highway was closed between Exit 8 and Exit 7 while public safety officials worked at the scene.
Route 6 westbound was re-opened at about 8 p.m., the state police reported in a prepared statement. The victim’s name and other information linked to the incident will not be available for the public until the crash victim has been identified and next of kin have been notified, the state police said.
UPDATE: Police have identified the victim as Jessica Spaid. 12/08/13
