Two people were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after a single-car crash in New Bedford late Thursday night.

Two people were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after a single-car crash in New Bedford late Thursday night.

New Bedford police say a car crashed into a utility pole just before 9 p.m. Thursday on Susan Street. The car’s two passengers, a 26-year-old and a 19-year-old,were taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

Investigators said that police in Freetown may have been searching for the car that crashed before the accident occurred, but it is not clear if it was being chased at the time of the crash.

Freetown Police said they may release more information about the wreck at some point Friday. Meanwhile, Massachusetts State and New Bedford police are looking into the cause of the accident.
