Police seek hit-run driver who seriously injured man early Saturday in New Bedford

According to the office of Bristol County District Atty. Thomas M. Quinn III, “a royal blue colored SUV, possibly a BMW X5 or similarly shaped SUV, with multiple occupants inside” struck the man at about 2:10 a.m. Saturday on Route 18 north near the Route 195 on-ramps.

Fatal New Bedford hit-and-run victim identified

The victim of a fatal hit-and-run crash in New Bedford on Saturday has been identified as 26-year-old Cresencio Gonzales Mureno. On Saturday morning, the blue SUV, which had multiple occupants inside, struck a pedestrian on Rt. 18 north in New Bedford near the Rt. 95 on ramps. State and New Bedford police are now investigating as they ask the public’s assistance in finding the vehicle that was involved in the crash. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford before being transferred to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, where he died from his injuries that afternoon. The SUV left the scene of the crash, taking the on-ramp to Rt. 95 west.
