8 Mile to be closed for months at US-23 after truck hits overpass; NB US-23 also closed at 8 Mile

Northfield Township police say the 8 Mile Road bridge above US-23 will be shut down for the next three months while it undergoes repairs. 

There is no word yet on any injuries from the Thursday morning accident.

Traffic snarled on U.S. 23 at 8 Mile

Michigan State Police said no injuries were reported in the 5:20 a.m. crash that occurred when a semi driver attempted to travel under the Eight Mile overpass on U.S. 23.

The semi driver was hauling an extension platform that was raised too high and it struck the bridge, causing significant structural damage to the beams.
