Worker Killed in Accident at Bong Bridge Construction Site

The Minnesota State Patrol says one construction worker was killed and another was injured in a workplace accident on the Bong Bridge. The Minnesota State Patrol and Duluth Police Department are investigating the incident. The name of the worker who died will not be released until an autopsy is performed by the St. The Patrol said the incident involved a forklift, but did not release other details. Both eastbound lanes of the bridge, as well as one westbound lane, have been closed all summer for the project, which is run by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

Authorities identify worker killed in bridge accident

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) - Authorities have identified a construction worker who was killed in a forklift accident on the Bong Bridge between Duluth and Superior, Wisconsin. WDIO-TVreports the medical examiner says Hagenson died of "multiple blunt force injuries due to a pedestrian-forklift mishap." Another worker was injured in the accident on the U.S. Highway 2 bridge, which is in the second year of a major reconstruction. The Anoka County Medical Examiner says 18-year-old Kelsey Hagenson of Thorp, Wisconsin, died Monday at a Duluth hospital about an hour after the accident.
