Waconia Standout Softball Player Seriously Hurt in Blue Earth County Rollover

A 16-year-old standout softball player from Waconia was seriously hurt in a rollover crash Thursday in Blue Earth County. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Chevy Blazer driven by 16-year-old Alexis Kretsch was northbound on Highway 196 when a Grand Prix crossed over the highway from County Road 33.

Girl Hurt in Mankato Rollover Crash Dies

The 16-year-old girl seriously hurt in a rollover crash near Mankato, Minnesota, died Friday, the Minnesota Vortex Elite Softball organization said. Alexis Kretsch from Waconia, Minnesota, was traveling northbound on Highway 169 when another vehicle crossed the highway traveling east on County Road 33. Kretsch swerved to avoid the car, driving off the road and rolling her truck, police said. The passengers of the other car, Michael and Mary Hiniker, 75 and 73 years old respectively, from Mankato, were not injured, police said. Kretsch was a pitcher for the Minnesota Vortex Elite Softball organization and the Waconia High School varsity softball team.
