14-year-old killed in Minnesota crash

The State Patrol says Daisy Rodriguez died in the crash at a rural intersection near the Brown County community of Sleepy Eye Thursday about 5 p.m.
Maria D. Rodriguez-Becerra, 22, of New Hampton, Iowa was westbound on County Road 29 in a Chevy Malibu with two younger relatives when the vehicle collided with a Ford Edge driven by 24-year-old Mary E. Johnson of Fairfax, Minnesota. Failure to yield at a stop sign at Highway 4 may have been a factor. A backseat passenger in the Malibu, 14-year-old Daisy M. Rodriguez, was killed. She was not wearing a seat belt. Rodriguez-Becerra and another Malibu passenger, 17-year-old Yesenia P. Rodriguez, were both wearing their seat belts and suffered non-critical injuries. Johnson was also wearing her seat belt and was not seriously injured.
