16-Year-old Girl Dies After Head-on Crash in Fillmore County

A pickup going north that 55-year-old Cindy Mueske of Ashland, Illinois, was driving, crossed the center line and crashed into a car that Kaitlyn Hanson of Canton was driving. Hanson, who was wearing her seatbelt, was killed. Mueske was not was wearing a seatbelt. She was tossed when her pickup rolled in the west ditch. She was taken to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. She is expected to survive, the state patrol said. The state patrol said alcohol was detected on Mueske.

After hitting Hansen, Mueske’s truck went into a ditch and rolled. Mueske was ejected from the car. She suffered non-life threatening injuries. Hansen was killed as a result of the impact.

Woman faces 17 charges for fatal January crash

Cindy Lee Mueske, 55, of Ashland, Ill., faces 17 criminal charges as a result of the Jan. 28 crash, including one count of second-degree manslaughter and six counts of criminal vehicular homicide, all felonies; one count of gross misdemeanor reckless driving; four counts of DWI and five other traffic violations, all misdemeanors.
