Jackson Co. cyclist killed in weekend collision

The South Mississippi cycling community is reeling after another cyclist was killed in a collision with a vehicle early Sunday morning. Moss Point Police Chief Art McClung said Steven Chatters was killed when he was hit by a vehicle in the northbound lanes of Highway 63 around 6 a.m. According to police, Chatters died at the scene. McClung said no charges have been filed against the driver, but police are investigating the accident. Just last week, cyclists from across the Coast rode for 12 miles in silence along Highway 90 to remember Mathew Weede, a cyclist who was killed while riding earlier this month in George County, and all other cyclists who have been killed or injured.
