Mississippi Highway Patrol tells WJTV that an accident has happened this morning in Copiah County.
Mississippi Highway Patrol stated that an accident has happened this morning in Copiah County.
The accident happened on I-55 Southbound, at mile marker 58, south of Hazelhurst.
A State Trooper First Class says the driver of an 18 wheeler went off the road while trying to avoid a vehicle that lost control in the area.
According to the Copiah County EOC Director, the tanker is in the woods and was carrying calcium chloride. Emergency crew were in the process of suiting up to see if the tanker had any leaks.
Trooper Huston says the driver of the tanker is not injured.
MDOT is reporting that the accident is only affecting the left shoulder of the Southbound lane and that the scene should be cleared in about an hour.
