Cpl. Anthony Johnson, who leads the Jackson Police Department's Crisis Intervention Team, was at the hospital at about 8:30 a.m., where he was trying to help someone experiencing a mental episode, Wade said. The man struck the officer with a vehicle, flipping the officer into the air, Wade said.
