Yazoo City High School Student Killed In Car Crash.

Grief counselors spent the day at Yazoo city high school helping students cope with a tragedy that hit close to home. Senior Jasmand Johnson, about a month from graduation, was killed in a Thursday morning car crash.

A teenage girl is dead and another is recovering at a Jackson hospital after a single car crash this morning on U.S. 49 in Yazoo County around 8:30 Thursday morning.

A teenage girl is dead and another is recovering at a Jackson hospital after a single car crash this morning on U.S. 49 in Yazoo County around 8:30 Thursday morning.

Mississippi Highway Patrol says 17 year old Jasmand Johnson died at the scene. MHP says another student, 19 year old Latoya Goins, was pulled out of the car by a witness as it began to catch fire.

MHP says Johnson was driving the Saturn Ion headed north when she passed another car on the two-lane highway. MHP says the car then fishtailed and flipped several times in a ditch, throwing Johnson out of the car.

MHP says Johnson was not wearing a seat belt. MHP says Goins said she was wearing a seat belt. She was flown to UMC in stable condition.

Johnson was a student at Yazoo City High School.
