Lafayette County sanitation worker dies in garbage truck accident
“He was transported with all life-saving efforts enforced on the way to Baptist,” Kennedy said. “Unfortunately, the injuries that he sustained were just too serious for him to survive.”
Kalvin Caldwell, 38, a decade-long employee with the waste department, was killed when the Lafayette County Solid Waste Department sanitation truck he was loading turned over, pinning him underneath on County Road 2004 east of the Oxford city limits. Caldwell was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi, where he was pronounced deceased. Two other workers on the truck, Brian Crockett and Antonio Wright, were not injured in the incident.
