Police say Brown was driving south on Whittier, moving into the intersection at Martin Luther King Drive, when his car was struck broadside by a westbound car at about 4:30 a.m. Friday. There is a light at the intersection but it's not clear who had the right of way because there were not witnesses to the crash, according to police.
