Tuesday, January 13, 2015UPDATE: 7-Year-Old Girl Hospitalized With Head Injury, Three Others Hurt in Crash
Investigators say a 17-year-old driving a white Ford Explorer was traveling northbound on 75, when he or she went to turn onto Platteview.
It was about 5:00pm when a 17-year-old driver, identified as Taylor Hughes in an SUV with her 7-year-old sister as a passenger was driving north on Highway 75 and was attempting to make a turn onto Platteview. Investigators currently believe that the teen driver failed to yield, which caused it to collide a van. Another car that was nearing the area attempted to avoid the wreck but veered off the road and struck a pole. The 7-year-old girl sustained the worst injuries, and was brought to Nebraska Medicine with a severe head injury, but is in stable condition. Hughes sustained an arm injury, the van's driver, identified as Susan Baker, was hospitalized with a possibly broken ankle, and the driver of the third vehicle, identified as Denise Nelson, sustained a non-life threatening injury to the neck and head.
