One Killed in Benson Crash

Officers believe Redden may have been drinking before the crash. A medical examiner will do an autopsy on Redden to confirm that.
Zachary Redden, 28, was pronounced deceased after a collision at 64th and Maple Streets in Benson Wednesday around 6:30 p.m., police say Redden was driving east in his Saturn sedan when he crossed the center line and hit a Jeep Liberty SUV. Redden was transported to the Nebraska Medical Center in critical condition, but he died from his injuries. 22-year-old Zachary Dunn and 22-year-old Austen Nielsen were in the other vehicle and suffered minor injuries. They were transported to Immanuel Hospital for treatment. Police say no one involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt. No citations have been issued.
