Authorities say two people are dead after a plane crashed in southern Nevada
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department released a statement saying dispatch received a report of a single-engine plane that went down at 5 p.m. near Jean.
Plane crash victim identified
One of the two occupants killed Saturday evening in a plane crash near Jean has been identified.
On Sunday, the Clark County coroner’s office identified the man as Steven Peterson, 32, of Rohnert Park, California.
Plane in fatal crash belonged to Vegas stunt-flying company
Officials haven't said whether an instructor or passenger was controlling the plane. National Weather Service meteorologists say the plane was flying in bad weather as thunderstorms dominated the area.

According to the Clark County Coroner's Office, the two people killed in the crash were Benjamin Soyars III, 37, of Las Vegas, and Steve Peterson, 32, of Rohnert Park, CA. Both Soyars and Peterson died of blunt force injury due to a plane crash. Both manners of death were ruled accidental.
Records show Vegas stunt planes company had safety concerns
The business has claimed an unblemished safety record before the recent fatal crash.
But the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board have previously identified multiple related safety issues and incidents.

It says essentially that customers must go on the flights with the company’s instructor pilots or forfeit their fare money. So rather than lose more than $8,000 that the group had ponied up for the flights, three of nine who had planned to go departed in three of the company’s planes about 4:30 p.m.
