Driver identified, jailed in bicyclist's hit-and-run death

Police said evidence at the scene indicated a Honda Civic struck and killed bicyclist Larry Martinez. Pentek was involved in a second crash near Charleston and Lamb Boulevard about 10 minutes after the deadly hit-and-run.

Other charges against Pentek include having an open alcohol container in his vehicle, failure to decrease speed or use due care, possession of a gun while under the influence, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and operating an unregistered vehicle, according to the jail records. 

According to Las Vegas Metro police, the hit-and-run crash took place on East Charleston Boulevard west of South Mojave Road at 11:38 p.m. Thursday when a 67-year-old man riding a bike was struck from behind by a car. The cyclist died at the scene, and the vehicle fled. Police were able to identify the vehicle after car parts were found at the scene as a result of the crash, and are now looking for a dark green 1999 Honda Civic DX 4-Door car.
