A 78-year-old man is dead after his car fell into a lake after speeding through an intersection and crashing into a curb on Tuesday in Mesquite, Nevada. James Matthew McMurray Jr. was driving his 2004 Chevrolet Impala at approximately 12:49 PM Tuesday when the incident occured. He was driving north on Grapevine Road in Mesquite, about 81 miles northeast of Las Vegas. Police report that he sped through the intersection at Pioneer Boulevard, ignoring a traffic sign, and failed to make a right turn onto Pioneer. The vehicle then crossed the interesection and the westboudn lanes of Pioneer, striking a raised curb and headed into a landscaped area on the northeast corner of the intersection. The car fell into the lake after crossing a sidewalk. McMurray was pronounced deceased at the site of the accident.
