One dead, another injured after tire accident in Salem NH Posted: Updated: One person is dead and another was injured after a tire accident at the Sears Auto Center in Salem, according to police. Police said work was being done on a tire around 7:45 on Saturday morning when an industrial accident occurred. A man who worked at the auto center was killed, and a customer was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

SALEM, N.H. (CBS) – An employee at a New Hampshire Sears was killed Saturday morning when a car tire exploded, police say. Salem Police say the employee was working on a tire when it exploded, killing the worker and injuring another person. The second person injured is believed to have been a customer. Police are continuing to investigate what they are calling an “industrial accident.” No further details are currently available.

“Preliminary investigation revealed the Sears Auto worker was in the process of fixing a large truck tire on an industrial tire changer when the incident occurred,” police wrote in a release. “The incident is currently being investigated by Salem Police Investigative Services Unit, as well as Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials.”
