Five killed in eight-vehicle accident on Turnpike
State police said seven cars and a tractor-trailer were involved in the crash, which occurred shortly after 1 p.m. in the southbound lanes near milepost 35 in Mount Laurel, just a half-mile north of Exit 4. The 2000 Freightliner tractor trailer crashed into the victim's car, which was stopped in the right lane due to congestion. The impact caused the 2004 Buick LeSabre to become fully engulfed in flames and shift to the center lane, where it triggered a chain reaction involving six other vehicles, said Turnpike officials.
