Worker killed by garbage truck in Franklin Lakes, police seek witnesses

Police were continuing their investigation and asked any potential witnesses to call 201-891-3131.
A trash hauling company employee was killed when a garbage truck driven by his co-worker hit him Wednesday. Stanley Rollins, 53, of Paterson, was working for Gaeta Recycling Company, and was pronounced deceased at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center around 4:30 p.m. The truck was driven by William Handlin was backing up on Black Hawk Lane when the vehicle collided with Rollins. Responding officers discovered Rollins under the truck. Handlin was cited for careless driving, and the company was cited for failure to maintain lamps and leaking oil on the truck.
