Secaucus man critically injured, flown to hospital after Mahwah wreck.
A 27-year-old Secaucus man was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after firefighters cut him from a wrecked car on Route 287 Thursday, according to authorities.
The motorist was flown to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, where he was in critical but stable condition, state police Sgt. First Class Gregory Williams said Friday.
The man was driving a Honda Accord southbound when he tried to switch lanes toward Route 17 and was clipped by a Chevrolet Venture also traveling south, authorities said. The Honda lost control, rolled and ended up on a grass median.
Mahwah firefighters cut away the Honda’s roof to free the driver.
The other driver, a 27-year-old man from Hatfield, Pa., was treated for minor injuries at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, Williams said.
