A crash that occurred around 8:30 p.m. Thursday on Route 46 near Old Wolfe Road left a 17-year-old boy dead and a 17-year-old girl injured, both Hopatcong High School students. William Staszewski, 28, of Budd Lake, was driving a 2009 Mercury Mariner when he struck a 2002 Dodge Neon driven by Rebecca Falconer as she attempted to make a left turn from westbound Route 46 onto Old Wolfe Road. Staszewski was unable to avoid hitting the Dodge after Falconer turned in front of Staszewski's eastbound lane of travel and right of way. Gregory Pellinger was a front-seat passenger in the Dodge and suffered major injuries from the crash. He was transported to Hackettstown Medical Center, where he later died.
