The crash happened at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Feb. 4 in front of Arts High school on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Newark, authorities said. A black sedan sped around a parked school bus and struck Chiara Jones as her team returned from a competition, authorities said.
