Authorities: Newark high school cheerleader critically injured in hit-and-run crash

Authorities say it happened around 10:15 p.m. on Sunday on the 500 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The JAGS cheerleader team was just returning home from a cheer event and the school bus was parked outside the high school.

Arrest made in hit-and-run that left N.J. cheerleader in critical condition

The crash happened at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Feb. 4 in front of Arts High school on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Newark, authorities said. A black sedan sped around a parked school bus and struck Chiara Jones as her team returned from a competition, authorities said.
