Robert and Jessica Springer, 25, of Washington Township, are accused of being in the Chevy Malibu that ran down Eddie Lee Warthen, 30, early Sunday in Paulsboro. Police believe Robert Springer was behind the wheel; he's been charged with murder.
Police Investigating Fatal Hit-And-Run In Paulsboro As Homicide
According to police, 31-year-old Eddie Lee Warthen was crossing East Madison Avenue around 4:30 a.m. when he was struck by a gray or silver, four-door car.
The victim was rushed to Cooper Trauma Center where he was pronounced dead about three hours later.
Police are now treating a deadly hit-and-run that occurred in Paulsboro, Gloucester County early Sunday morning as a homicide.
According to police, 31-year-old Eddie Lee Warthen was crossing East Madison Avenue around 4:30 a.m. when he was struck by a gray or silver, four-door car.
The victim was rushed to Cooper Trauma Center where he was pronounced dead about three hours later.
The victim’s family says he had a troubled past, but was working toward a brighter future. But that all got cut short on Sunday. The victim’s dad, also named Eddie, tells CBS3 Eyewitness News he doesn’t know why, but he believes this was deliberate:
“When you run over somebody, back up, then run over them again, I mean your trying to kill them.”
